Welcome to the Goshen Fire Department! The Department is located in the town of Waterford in the southeast corner of the State of Connecticut. It is one of five fire departments that provides fire protection to the town. The boundaries of the fire district which covers the southern section of the town is bordered by the City of New London on the east, Long Island sound on the south, the Town of East Lyme on the west, and the Amtrak New York to Boston train track on the north. The Department protects many single-family homes and small businesses. Included in its response area are seasonal vacation areas such as marinas, Eugene O'Neil Memorial Theatre Center and the town beach, and Harkness Memorial State Park and Mansion. The businesses we protect include a large 180,000 gallon propane bulk plant, a number of congregate care facilities and the Millstone Nuclear Power Station, home of three nuclear reactors. The Department operates two 1500 GPM (Gallons per minute) Class A pumpers, a 750 GPM mini pumper, as well as the 24 ft. Lake Assault fire-rescue boat pictured above, an ambulance, and a pickup R-1 and service vehicle. During an average year we respond to 250-275 fire calls, plus 300-325 ambulance calls. Chief Neil T.
